Metamorphous by James Grieshaber of Sorkin Type Co is a free Celtic Gothic font with tall, formal proportions and sharply cut details. Its capitals mix broad, sweeping curves with pointed joins and wedge-like serifs. Several forms have an uncial flavor.
Publishing is a natural setting for its manuscript character, especially book covers and chapter openings rooted in folklore or early history. It also gives posters and event graphics a ceremonial, old-world voice rather than a conventional medieval blackletter texture. Across fantasy publishing, heritage events, and game titles, the carved shapes connect the lettering to maps, crests, and period-inspired illustration.
Metamorphous is a medium contrast design taking style cues from a wide variety of sources. It draws on and mixes together Romanesque, Gothic and the more familiar Remaissance letter shapes. Originally inspired by display fonts including the free font Morpheous designed by Kiwi Media as well as the work of Jonathan Barnbrook; Metamorphous is designed to be useful in a broad range of applications and sizes. Metamorphous also covers most languages that use Latin letters.
