Gotham Nights, designed by Neale Davidson in 2011, is a free retro techno display font with the compressed stature of vintage film billing. Its tall, narrow letters use rounded joins and abrupt cut-ins, creating a severe silhouette with a hint of Art Deco geometry.
Classic crime cinema is the clearest reference, making the face apt for thriller posters and noir-themed event graphics. Its slim construction also suits nightclub branding and album covers built around urban, after-dark themes. Against photography, the lettering can echo skyscraper windows, theater marquees, or shafts of city light as part of the image itself.
